We examine six main pointers to Christ from the account of Sarah, Hagar, and their sons.
In this message from 1 Corinthians 1:17-31, we examine the Maker, material, method, motive, and majesty of the church.
Sarah, Hagar, and their sons are an allegory of the two covenants, as we see in the first part of this message using excerpts from Genesis 15-21.
Habakuk cried out to God because of the sin of Judah, and the Lord's answer caused Habakuk to tremble, as we see in Hab. 3.
Only those in the ark were saved, all others were destroyed in the flood. Likewise, "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved" (Acts 4:12).
Both sons received blessings and both rebelled, but only one was repentant while the other would not go in, as we see in Luke 15.
The account of Cain and Abel is an early indicator of the difference between salvation by God's sovereign grace versus a works gospel.
In this first message in a Sunday school series on pictures of Christ in the Old Testament, we examine how Adam typifies Christ.
Pictures of Christ can be found in Zechariah 4:6-10, as manifested in Zerubbabel and the building of the second temple.
Zechariah asked three times to be given an understanding of the vision in Zechariah 4. Sometimes we have to repeatedly ask the Lord for understanding, but we have the promise that God is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.
In Zechariah 1, the angel of the Lord is on a red horse standing in the midst of the lowly myrtle trees. Likewise the church is not tall or mighty, but Christ in all His power stands in her midst.
Do you hunger and thirst after righteousness? To hunger and thirst is more than merely desiring a snack. It is an all-consuming need, as we see from today's sermon in Matthew 5:1-20.
